Went to the Anne Frank house/museum this morning. Long queues and a long wait to get it but well worth it. The house itself has been well preserved and has a new exterior to help protect it. Everyone shuffles round slowly reading various extracts from Anne's diary and going through each room, including the hiding annex. Gives you a whole new perspective on life to see it all. Hard to feel what it was like at the time during the Nazi occupation. Tried to find an English copy of the diary but they'd totally sold out!!
Got the wrong bill during lunch in an outside café. Had to rectify that and get some money back. Probably a genuine mistake but when you're foreigners you sometimes wonder if it's deliberate. Given the different money, ie Euros and not Pounds a lot of people would possibly not think since you just don't on holiday!!!
The afternoon was spent wandering the streets again and a boat ride round the canals. Most of the walking though was due to trying to find the actual boat berths. They were nowhere to be found. We just used the philosophy of following a boat trail back along the canals and eventually finding somewhere based on the Amstel.

Decided, with some persuading from Claire to quit smoking. Felt like hell at the airport though despite chewing on nicotine tobacco for a while. Flight from Leeds/Bradford to Amsterdam (nothing exciting), then a train into the city. Looks pretty good. We found the hotel quite easily once getting our bearings, it was only a few minutes walk away though and spent the evening wandering around the place. Had a beer in a bar, walked the streets and talked about what we were going to do for the next 2 days. The whole place is so relaxed, comes alive at night though mostly tourists and a few locals out for the evening. Dinner was eaten in a floating Chinese restaurant next to the hotel on the river Amstel. Claire also let me smoke. I felt terrible though.

Spent the day with Claire in York. Did a bit of pre-trip shopping for essentials in life like shampoo. Watched Gone With The Wind in the evening/night while pausing briefly for some naughtiness. It was quite useful to have a movie on 2 discs. Our first time as well for the full-blown event and it felt good.

My life has taken a serious upturn. I am now with someone who I always wanted to be with. Claire is perfect in every way. We've been able to talk for hours and now I've finally met her I'm happier than I've ever been.
All my waking time is spent thinking about her. I dream about her. I talk to her. Nothing else matters.

Met Claire for the first time yesterday. I got to York station at our agreed time to find her already there (she'd arrived much earlier). Remember feeling very nervous. I always do though when I meet someone.
We walked round York, going through the Museum Gardens and even through Bootham! First time I'd been back there since the day I got my 'A' Level results. Had dinner at Cafe Rouge, walked down the Shambles, around a few other streets and eventually back to the station to be picked up by my dad and taken home.
The evening didn't go so well. My fault entirely. We watched TV. Claire was pissed off to say the least.
Sunday morning and we made up. Helped by a blueberry muffin. Beautiful weather got us somewhat horny too. We "made out" (to use and American phrase) before an orgasm hit me.
It was a shame the weekend had to end and we had to go back our separate ways. After much kissing on the station platform we said goodbye and headed off.
I feel happier today than I have done in a long time.
