Vrooooooooooooom

Friday, 10 September 2004
Formula 1 has died. It's official. Processions, nothing of interest, same cars, same drivers, same money, same results, overtaking's not allowed (at least I assume it isn't since it never happens), pit stops decide minor positions.

Scalextrix is more fun than F1

And they wonder why it happens

Thursday, 09 September 2004

Def Leppard are releasing a new Best Of album, to replace the older Vault album. And?? Why??? Just another way for a band to make more money out of fans who have to buy everything. As much as I like their music it seems such a shame that, rather than putting out a definitive live album, it's a rehash of the Best Of concept. Have their fan base swelled enough to warrant this?

Given the ease at which any fan can copy CDs and burn their own is there really a need for Best Of albums? Everyone's taste is different. 100 fans of 100 groups will come up with an infinite different "Best Of" albums. Why bother putting out an album? Answer - to make money.

It's no wonder that people download as much music as they do.

Movies

Saw The Terminal last night. Good film. Funny in parts, slightly moving and a film that, whereas it has a happy ending, also didn't leave the love interest setting off into the sunset together. It does beg the question of whether it would be possible to actually live in an airport. For those of us who have been in a few in our time it always seems possible but then there's the slight problem of everything being a bit of a rip off.
England managed to win then! Then managed to lose all respect by spitting out their dummies and not speaking to the press. Well, wonderful! Well done! Bravo! Useless bunch of overpaid, underacheiving wasters. I now won't be going to another England match. I've lost interest in them. No more. Finished.
Good job the NFL starts again tonight. Go Eagles!

Pondering the concept of love

Tuesday, 07 September 2004
What is love? Where does it come from? How are 2 people meant to be together?

It always interests me how 2 people can become to rely on each other for happiness without being real friends. Are we really meant to be with the same person for the rest of our lives? I can't do it. The concept scares me. To lose that freedom of being able to do as I want. Evolution would suggest that I'm doing what every male in the human race has ever done, that need to reporoduce as much as possible with as many people as possible. Not that I'm a father but I just cannot bring myself to be with one person forever. Women though, need that security. It's a tricky inbalance.

What happened to having fun? Sure it's nice to feel like someone's interested in you but I have more fun with friends than I do with lovers. I've been known to have sex with friends.

Maybe it's just selfishness but why do I have to change my life to fit in with someone elses? Relationships are supposed to be about give and take? Why? Why are 2 people meant to alter their own needs and desires just to be happy? Are they really happy?

Then there's marriage. An institution based soley on religion. If I'm an athiest or belong to a group who do not worship a "God" then can I ever get married?

Never fall in love. Just enjoy your life!
