Boxing Day begins. No cricket yet though thanks to a spot of rain in Melbourne. It occurred to me quite why I don't particularly found Christmas Day that exciting for another year. I can't really remember the last time I thoroughly enjoyed a Christmas. In recent years some have been a little different. There's no great surprise to it anymore. The day begins and ends and in the middle there is turkey and presents. The presents themselves provide no great excitement anymore, everything's either what had been requested or some choices that provide more curiosity and the question "Why?" springs to mind.

Everywhere is somewhat white this morning. A heavy frost has covered vast areas and travelling through to Scarborough would have been somewhat picturesque had it not been for the heavy fog that had also descended overnight. It's also cold. Too damn cold and, fool that I am, came out without scarf or gloves and so spent half an hour freezing in York station. A matter not helped by the goods train that rattled through bringing with a wind that chilled me right through.

Maybe everything cricket related has now gone pear shaped for England or maybe it's just the usual affair at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (aka The Gabba). After the first day's play in what has been talked about as the most eagerly anticipated Ashes Series in History everything that could go wrong for England did. After all, starting the day by sending the first delivery to second slip isn't a good omen. The Gabba has never really been a happy hunting ground for the English though.

The photographs have been taken and at this time of year it's a great idea to share those photos with friends and relatives in any way possible. Kodak's photo sharing doesn't just cover online galleries or simple prints (Now new customers receive 20 free prints after sign up.).

No more stupidity in Launceston, all home games in the Telstra Dome. The AFL have released the fixtures for the 2007 Season and as far as St Kilda go it'll be a lot of time under the floodlights but at least there's no need to head over the Bass Strait anymore. Expectations still appear to run quite highly with St Kilda and a new coach, new players and having spent the last couple of years being a "nearly" team have put them high on the list of the TV games. 15 of 22 will be at night, 17 of 22 are in Melbourne and all 11 home games are in the Telstra Dome.
