How well do you know you're home town/city? If you had to be a tourist for the day where would you go? What would you see?
One of the problems is becoming too familiar with something and not always noticing the little things (or sometimes the big things!) that surround you on a regular basis. Being a tourist for a day, wandering around camera in hand, and just looking around can be fun. I've taken two previous girlfriends around York and shown them a few little things but then there's so much to York that even then I didn't show them that much. York itself is so full of history, going back a couple of thousand years, back to the days of Romans and Vikings, Civil War, religion, world wars and railways. Having wandered up the Shambles, down Stonegate, round the Minster, back down to Parliament St, down Coney St and wandering down to the station I found a few new things. Probably not the best of routes to take around York, or maybe doing things randomly is the way to go. Stop following guided walks and just go wherever the streets takes you! So, ladies and gentlemen, today's objective is to go and find something new in the place where you live.
