Less than two weeks now before I fly home to England.

Managed to meet another mad Aussie the other night in the pub. Seemed a decent enough bloke at the start. We had a natter, a game of pool and a few beers. Then he went all weird on me. As someone who can't abide programs like Big Brother I did feel his comments that we should look up to Big Brother contestants a little on the wrong side. I don't think, as he did, that they are role models for Australian (or any) society.

The guy then drifted into telling me all about his past and how he'll never achieve the fame and fortune of a BB contestant. Breaking down as he did as he told me about his time in prison after stealing an old lady's handbag. I felt by now I needed to extricate myself from his presence.

I have this habit of people opening themselves up to me though. I'm not quite sure why. I was once told that I'm a good listener. A lot of the time I'll listen and do what I can to help someone but the other night I had things on my mind and just wanted a few quiet beers.

Off down the Mornington Peninsula this weekend. Should be fun, as it always is. Footy tonight is in Perth so I won't be going. Instead it's a boy's night in with beer and the TV.
