Another city. Another state.

Rolled up into Brisbane yesterday afternoon on a 4 hour bus ride from Byron. The sun was out, there weren't any clouds about and I had a very hot, very sweaty walk up the road to the hostel of choice, City Backpackers. It's not too bad a place either. Loads of rooms, it's own bar and swimming pool.

Had a walk round Brisbane later in the afternoon. The hostel's about 15mins walk away from the CBD and like most Aussie cities it's a big grid, impossible to get lost in! I like this place. It has a mix of the very old buildings mixed in and around a lot of new ones. The usual mix of Aussie stores with Myer dominating whole areas as it often does.

Spent the evening at the cinema. I'd wanted to watch The Longest Yard and since yesterday was tight-arsed Tuesday and I was knackered by 5pm I figured having a 2 hour sit down was a good idea. Thoroughly loved it too. It's a remake of the old Burt Reynolds film (which I know I've seen but so long ago I can't remember it). Regular readers will know I have a love for American Football and so got a few jokes which others in the cinema didn't seem to get - sometimes laughing on your own can be embarrassing.

The rain has come this morning. Shame really, I was up at 7am and hoping to have a good long walk around with the camera. I'm here for a week so there will hopefully be a day for photos.

The news that Roger Waters will be re-joining the Pink Floyd for the Live8 concerts arrived with me yesterday. One of those points in life where I wish I was back in the UK and going to be in Hyde Park on July 6th!
