Liverpool win the European Cup for a fifth time
Liverpool, Champions League Winners 2005
I've been awake since 4.30am this morning. Being sat in front of a TV at that time in the morning is not natural. However, it had to be done. Sadly we had ESPN on, not SBS. ESPN have the world's most annoying football commentators.

I was excited, nervous, apprehensive. One minute into the game and I'm just plain scared. Going a goal down so early is never a good thing. Being a further 2 goals down at half time was just too much to cope with.

Quite what happened in those 5 minutes in the second half still gives me a warm glow inside. Milan should, in theory, have gone on, scored more and ended up victors. Like PSV in the semi final Milan could not cope with pace attacking them.

Extra time was a nerve racking affair. You know that one error, one mistake and it could all be over. As with the semi final against Chelsea the almost-last-kick-of-the-game somehow doesn't go in.

Penalties.

My finger nails have all gone.
I didn't (couldn't) sit down for it all. I paced the hostel courtyard.
Milan miss, Liverpool score, Milan miss, Liverpool score.
A beautiful start to a shoot-out.
Milan score, Liverpool miss.
Oh shit.
Milan score, Liverpool score.

The future of Milan's continuation in the competition rests on the shoulders of Shevchenko.
He misses!

The joy. The pleasure. A few tears.

Now I'm riding on an adrenalin rush. It'll wear off sooner or later and I'll be asleep.
