There's a pattern forming during my time in Sydney. It seems to involve alcohol. A bit too much alcohol. Saturday night's excursion to watch the football (or soccer as some people insist on calling it) was going to be a couple of quiet drinks. Now, I've got a good habit of immersing myself into games so become oblivious of the world around me and therefore don't drink much when watching good quality sport. Unfortunately, especially during the Charlton-Man City match I was being bugged, talked at and having my glass refilled by a somewhat overly drunk Sydneysider. Fine for a while, irritating as hell by the end of the game. Being there, as I was, to watch the Liverpool-Bolton game such distractions were not needed so a quick trip to the bar and returning to a new location in the pub was required. All well and good, though the game wasn't the prettiest to watch the result was the right one. Last night I'd figured early night, read a bit, sleep a lot. To start a Robert Burns quote - The best laid plans of mice and men.........* Ended up in O'Malleys for a while. Not too long though as I managed to do some serious binge drinking in the space of an hour and a half. Not good. Entertainment was good though, seemed to have a Barry White-esque character singing his heart out. Extremely good singer and topped the evening with a rendition of You'll Never Walk Alone. Somehow, for whatever reason I left. It felt like the right thing to do. I wasn't exactly feeling so great. Went for a walk along Darlinghurst Rd before heading off to bed. Slept well and got up this morning at 6am. * - Mice are often known for their planning. Comment on this article
