Spent the day in DC. Matt and I had to drive round most of Alexandria to find somewhere to park to get the Metro in. The US is definately not geared up for those with cars to use public transport.

Once in DC we had a wander up towards Capitol Hill and then headed off to the corner of 7th and E for an excellent meal at the District Chophouse and Brewery (Bourbon Beef pizza for me).

Back down Constitution Avenue to the American History museum which wasn't too interesting so we didn't go round all of it. Continuing further down to try and get at the Whitehouse but access only takes you so far. Maybe George W doesn't feel so safe after his 2nd election.

That pretty much sums up all there is to do in DC.

Metro back to Alexandria, a quick drive round Matt's hotel and home, stopping off for soup at Palerno's. Had a nap after we got back to Fredericksburg before a spot of midnight shopping at Giant.
